Words from the mind of: Daniel Thomas Olson
Light, flesh and revolt, Totalitarianism and arete, pain and blood. I was unconvinced that Theology must again become the queen of the sciences.
Maybe we just need a new aesthetic?I thought that thinking requires the unfreezing of stall concepts–concepts like beauty, style, elegance and form. In unfreezing concepts we unfreeze the moorings by which we are held. Stability. Safety. Security. We unfreeze our world so that it and we can move again. Tiring. I took a slumber. And dreamed a dream. No waves. Lame dream. And who the hell is that in the bushes?Dreams can change faster than a coked up model between walks down the runway at a fashion show.
In my dream people got into gas burning machines to drive miles to pay money to use calorie burning machines. My bike is better than a tread mill. I was, in my dream, an ecosystem within a large and overlapping network of complex, shifting, adapting and interconnected ecosystems. Entropy ordered it all. It moved me here.To where I wOnder. I wOnder if we can unfreeze concepts? If beauty, style, elegance, and form can no longer be thought in isolation, but only ecologically as interconnected parts of this organic spaceship we call earth? Am I stoned? We would have to think beauty with equity, style with justice, elegance with function, and form and all with sustainability. Then it hit me, I had ate way too much chocolate, but I love chocolate. Thank God for chocolate laxatives. Some companies that are trying to re-conceptualize fashion–even if doing so on a plane, a One All, that has run amok–are KKI and Nau. They are worth looking into.
Thank you to State of Golden for making me look better in the virtual world than I do in the actual one and for letting me spill words on your blog.
